Feel More Confident!

Does your lack of a properly fitting sports bra hold you back from working out?  I know it did me.  I would get embarrassed by the movement of the girls and I didn’t like how they looked in sports bras.  It was like I had one big breast (aka- “uni-boob”).  And not to mention, all the bouncing can be uncomfortable and painful.

We are not alone out there, there is a study, published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health where researchers surveyed 249 women between the ages of 18 and 65 about their breast health, breast size, and physical activity levels.  A number of those women said that their boobs have kept them from a sweat session.  “I can’t find the right sports bra” and “I am embarrassed by excessive breast movement” were the most influential breast related barriers to activity.

I know we have the typical excuses for missing a workout: too tired, too busy, or not feeling well.

But also, not having a properly fitting sports bra can not only wreak havoc on your confidence but also on your chest.  The major movement of your boobs during a workout can damage the internal breast tissues, since ligaments and skin are the only things supporting them.  Research reveals that during exercise your breasts can move as much as eight inches up and down and side to side.

When looking for a bra that will keep your girls secure and safe, try to find one that has separate cups to help keep them individually confined better during movement.

Other things to look for in a sports bra include a band that is snug but doesn’t cut into you.  A ribcage band that fits against your body and doesn't gape away will also help secure your girls below so you don’t feel like they might slip out when you raise your arms during exercise.

While there's not much you can do to change the size of your rack there are some things you can do to to secure the girls during exercise, keep them healthy and feel more confident with the way they look.

After all, the hardest-working piece of fitness gear in your gym bag is your sports bra so spend some time finding the right one.
